Google introduced built-in video conferencing device interoperability between Google Meet and Microsoft Teams on Feb. 3. The feature allows people to join Microsoft Teams meetings from Chrome OS-based Google Meet hardware devices and join Google Meet meetings from Windows-based Microsoft Teams Rooms devices.
The interoperability is currently limited to Chrome OS-based Google Meet Rooms and Windows-based Microsoft Teams Rooms. The feature will not replace existing Pexip settings for any organizational unit that already has them in place, Google noted in a blog post announcing the release.
Admin console settings began full rollout on Feb. 3, with visibility expected within one to three days. The feature will be turned on by default. End-user visibility follows a gradual rollout starting Feb. 16, taking up to 15 days. The feature is available to all Google Workspace customers with Google Meet hardware devices.
