Zoom launched a major expansion of its AI Companion platform on July 9, introducing a suite of agentic AI capabilities aimed at reducing manual workflows and improving productivity across business functions. The release includes a Custom AI Companion add-on, which enables Zoom’s AI to connect with 16 third-party platforms including ServiceNow, Asana, Jira, Box, Workday and Google Meet.
According to Zoom officials, this rollout delivers on the company’s promise of an AI-first collaboration experience by helping users move beyond conversation capture into true cross-app task orchestration.
Smita Hashim, chief product officer at Zoom, said the new capabilities allow teams to “streamline their workflows by having AI Companion join their Zoom Meetings and in-person meetings,” while also expanding AI reach to third-party meeting platforms.

Agentic AI Meets Everyday Workflows
The AI Companion’s new orchestration features allow users to trigger actions, update records and access knowledge across connected apps without leaving Zoom. Use cases span across core enterprise functions:
- Sales and service: When connected to CRMs and support platforms like ServiceNow and Zendesk, AI Companion helps reps update opportunities, resolve tickets and summarize interactions in real time.
- Project management: Integration with Asana and Jira enables users to assign tasks, update deadlines and check status from within meetings or post-call summaries.
- Document collaboration: AI Companion accesses files across Microsoft OneDrive, Google Drive, Box, Notion and more to summarize content, generate new documents and streamline meeting prep.
- Recruiting and HR: Connected to Workday, the AI can surface candidate details, summarize interviews, and accelerate onboarding with contextual insights.

Expanded Reach Through Custom Add-on
