Guild announced the launch of its newest product, Career Pathways, on March 27. The career planning solution allows employees to pursue learning programs relevant to their career aspirations while helping employers meet talent needs.
Career Pathways Help Employees Explore Career Opportunities
As the newest addition to Guild’s career opportunity platform, Career Pathways provides clearly defined pathways for employees to acquire in-demand skills.
Employers have the flexibility to choose from Guild's menu of pre-built priority pathways, which are vetted for optimal outcomes and aligned with more than 60 in-demand roles across industries. Covering over 75% of job postings from existing and prospective employer partners, priority pathways offerings include data analytics, software engineering, cybersecurity, finance, nursing and more. Each module can be tailored to meet the unique needs of an organization, allowing employers to customize job titles, specify education requirements, and link to internal career resources. Additionally, employers can connect learning programs to growth opportunities within their organization.
With Guild’s talent development analytics capability, employers have access to employees’ skilling and education progress across learning institutions and programs. “This enables employers to set talent pipeline goals, develop the necessary talent, track progress towards their pipeline goals, analyze results, and make adjustments to Career Pathways as needed to accomplish those goals,” Matthew Daniel, senior principal, talent strategy and mobility at Guild, told Reworked. These data-driven insights allow employers to see reports on the entirety of an employees’ journey, develop individual and enterprise-wide strategies and make informed decisions.
When asked about whether there were any beta testers for career pathways, Daniel said the new feature was tested both internally and with a select few of its existing partners. Research showed that three quarters of employees are seeking help with their career navigation skills. The feedback gathered further inspired Guild’s development of the tool to focus on comprehensive career exploration.
Career Pathways guides employees toward career advancement opportunities within their organization. Employees can explore aligned learning programs to acquire the skills needed for a new role. By selecting a specific pathway, employees gain access to a suite of resources designed to help them transition into a career field of their interest. Within the Guild opportunity platform, employees of partnering companies gain access to:
- Short videos with actionable information on how to enter into a career path.
- Information on previously acquired transferable skills.
- Visual career progression within a field, including specific jobs and role descriptions at their employer.
- An FAQ with expert answers to the most common questions employees have asked about a given pathway.
“The resources available through Career Pathways help ensure an employer’s education benefit leads to outcomes for both employees and employers, so that employees are growing into new roles that are business critical and have the highest potential for advancement,” said Daniel.
Along with Career Pathways, Guild offers additional resources through its career opportunity platform including:
- Guild’s learning marketplace: a list of programs from an array of learning partners to enable skill building.
- Career accelerator: Job search skill development through on-demand activities.
- Career coaching: Provides insights into desired career paths and strategy development.
